Talkatora Stadium at New Delhi recently turned into mini-Korea on the occasion of the grand finale of 'K-Pop Contest 2017'. The energetic performances by the young kids from both sides were watched by the audience with rapt attention. The competition was tough as all the participants from 11 states were neckand-neck in the race. The debut performance was from the South Korean Boy Band. In vocals, Staccato group (members: Jincy Jacob and Sajin J Mathew) from Delhi grabbed the first position and Immortal Army (members: Vanlaltanpuia, Vanlalruata, Laltanpuia, Zothantluanga, Vanlalhruaia, Zomuansang and Lalrammawia) from Mizoram were declared winners in the dance category. The opening ceremony was attended by the Acting Ambassador of Republic of Korea Lee Hye Kwang and Director of Korean Cultural Centre, India, Kim Kum Pyoung. This year, the four-monthlong contest witnessed the participation of 424 teams, with 898 members participating from all over India. The finally selected 24 teams participated in the grand finale round. The judges had a tough time deciding the winners amid cheering crowds. The first and second position from both the categories went to South Korea. The third, fourth and fifth winners were awarded with Samsung TV set and refrigerator, Samsung microwave, a smartphone and an Innisfree gift box. The participating teams in dance categories were: We are Family Crew and Girls Crush from Delhi, Hot Issue – Assam, Morning Star – Patna, Hindustan Spring Boots – Chennai, Flame X Crew ~- Nagaland, Immortals Army – Mizoram, Stardust – Bengaluru, Unpredictable Dice – Hyderabad, DS3 – Odisha, Meraki Crew – Mumbai and Mansae Crew – Kolkata. The teams in singing category were Staccato and Mali Hazuel from Delhi, V21 – Assam, Richa Tigga – Patna, Pooja Chandramohan – Chennai, Binthu Newmai – Nagaland, Juchy113 – Mizoram, Aparna Ramaswamy – Bengalaru, Neelima Kadali – Hyderabad, Kashmira Rout – Odisha, Priscilla Darngawn – Mumbai and Juthika Gautam – Kolkata. The visitors also experienced traditional costumes (Hanbok), traditional games, quiz contest and Korean food which was organised by fan clubs supported by the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange.
